    Sea Turtle Hatchery

    The waters around Sri Lanka are teeming with sea life. Though the threats to sea life exist here too, we take extensive measures to reduce the threats. The area on Sri Lanka’s west coast sees particularly high levels of sea turtles.Five out of the seven types of sea turtles call nest on our beaches. All of them are on the endangered list. Namely Olive ridley turtle, Loggerhead turtle, Green turtle, hawksbill turtle and leatherhead turtle. The Sea Turtles Hatchery is a non - profitable activity which is maintained for the survival of sea turtles for next generation.

    Madu River Boat Safari

    Take a magical speed-boat ride down the beautiful Madu River, a wetland estuary spreading over 900 hectares of which 770 hectares is covered with water. It is one of the last remaining tracts of untouched mangrove forest in Sri Lanka. Madu River Boat Safari is a wonderful way to take a closer look at this complex wetland ecosystem.

    Buduruwagala is an ancient buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. The village of Buduruwagala is relatively less visited among the island's wealth of historical sites, though it holds one of the greatest archeological findings in Sri Lanka.

    Buduruwagala is the site of the tallest solid rock-carved, standing Buddha statue in Southern Asia, where on the same solid rock are six other images hewn in high relief, in sets of three on either side of the central carving. Despite its majesty, as with many artefacts of Sri Lanka, its origin and history is yet a mystery.

    Temple of tooth relic

    In the Central Highlands, almost dead centre in the little island of Sri Lanka lays Kandy City. The crown jewel of the city is the famed Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Tooth. ‘Maligawa’ literally translates to palace, and the temple is part of the palace complex. The entire complex is over three centuries old at least, and has seen many a king’s rise and fall. It has seen bloody wars and peaceful reigns and is one of the most historical places still standing in the island.

    This was a great show with dances first of all by ladies and then by men in very beautiful and decorative costumes. Apparently it takes years to train to be one of the dancers and learn the complicated moves. The drumming was good also.

    Sigiriya means lion’s rock. Hight of the rock is around 200 meters. This rock is one of the UNESCO heritages in Sri Lanka.
